Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson, known professionally as YG, is an American rapper and songwriter. He was born on March 9, 1990, in Compton, California, United States.
Biography of YG:
YG grew up in a rough neighborhood in Compton, where gang violence was common. He was involved in street life from a young age and joined the Bloods gang at 16. YG attended Paramount High School, but dropped out in the 10th grade and turned to music as an escape from the dangerous environment he was living in.
In 2008, YG signed with Def Jam Recordings, but it wasn’t until 2010 that he began to gain recognition with the release of his mixtape, “4Fingaz”. He followed up with a series of successful mixtapes, including “Just Re’d Up” and “Just Re’d Up 2”, which featured collaborations with other up-and-coming artists like Ty Dolla $ign and Nipsey Hussle.
