Biography of Roman Polanski:

His parents were Polish Jews who moved to France shortly before his birth. Polanski’s childhood was marked by tragedy and upheaval. His mother died in a Nazi concentration camp, and he survived the Holocaust by hiding in various places in Poland.

Polanski began his career as a filmmaker in the late 1950s, with his first feature-length film, “Knife in the Water” (1962), which earned him critical acclaim and international recognition. He continued to make films in Poland until 1968 when he moved to the United States.

In 1969, Polanski achieved great success with his film “Rosemary’s Baby,” a horror-thriller starring Mia Farrow, which became a classic of the genre. In 1974, he directed “Chinatown,” a neo-noir mystery starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway, which was nominated for 11 Academy Awards.

However, Polanski’s personal life has been marked by controversy. In 1969, his pregnant wife, actress Sharon Tate, was brutally murdered by members of the Manson Family. In 1977, Polanski was charged with drugging and raping a 13-year-old girl. He pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse but fled to France before sentencing, where he has remained a fugitive from justice ever since.

Despite the controversy surrounding his personal life, Polanski has continued to work as a filmmaker and has directed many critically acclaimed films, including “The Pianist” (2002), for which he won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award for Best Director.

Polanski has been married three times and has two children. He currently lives in France and continues to work in the film industry.
