He is best known for his role as Raymond Barone in the hit sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

Romano started his career in comedy clubs in the late 1980s, performing stand-up comedy. In 1989, he appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” which gave him a national audience and helped launch his career. He continued to perform on various talk shows and comedy specials throughout the 1990s.

In 1996, Romano’s sitcom “Everybody Loves Raymond” premiered on CBS. The show was a massive success, running for nine seasons and winning multiple awards, including four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series. Romano played the lead character, Raymond Barone, a successful sports writer with a wife and three kids who lived across the street from his parents and older brother.

After “Everybody Loves Raymond” ended in 2005, Romano continued to act in movies and television shows, including “Men of a Certain Age,” which he also co-created, and “Parenthood.” He also continued to perform stand-up comedy, releasing multiple comedy specials.
