Peter Graves (March 18, 1926 – March 14, 2010) was an American actor best known for his roles in film and television. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States.

Biography of Peter Graves:

Graves was the younger brother of actor James Arness. Graves attended the University of Minnesota where he majored in drama and journalism.

Graves began his acting career in radio in the 1940s, and later moved to television and film. He appeared in numerous TV series throughout the 1950s, including “Fury”, “Cheyenne”, and “Gunsmoke”. In 1967, Graves landed the lead role of Jim Phelps in the hit television series “Mission: Impossible”, which ran until 1973. Graves also starred in the revival of the series from 1988 to 1990.

In addition to his television work, Graves also appeared in many films throughout his career. Some of his notable film roles include “Stalag 17” (1953), “The Court-Martial of Billy Mitchell” (1955), “The Night of the Hunter” (1955), “Airplane!” (1980), and “Addams Family Values” (1993).

Graves was also a prolific voice actor, lending his voice to several animated TV shows and films. He provided the voice of Captain Marvel in the 1980s animated series “The Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam!”, and also provided the voice of the narrator in the popular documentary series “Biography”.

Peter Graves was married to Joan Endress from 1950 until her death in 1995. They had three daughters together. Graves passed away on March 14, 2010, in Los Angeles, California, from a heart attack, just a few days before his 84th birthday. He was survived by his three daughters and his brother James Arness.
