Biography of Paul Williams:

He began his career as a songwriter in the 1960s and has written many hit songs for popular artists such as Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, and the Carpenters.

Williams started his career in the music industry as a songwriter and formed a songwriting partnership with Roger Nichols in the late 1960s. They wrote many successful songs for various artists, including the Carpenters’ “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Rainy Days and Mondays,” and Barbra Streisand’s “Evergreen.”

Williams also pursued a successful solo career as a singer and released many albums, including his debut album “Somethin’ Special” in 1974. He also acted in films and television shows, including “The Love Boat” and “Smokey and the Bandit.” He also wrote the songs for the popular musical film “Bugsy Malone” in 1976.

Williams struggled with addiction to drugs and alcohol for many years but became sober in the late 1990s. He has since become an advocate for addiction recovery and has written a book on the subject, “Gratitude and Trust.”

Throughout his career, Williams has received many accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Evergreen” in 1977 and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001. He continues to perform and write music today.
