Hardwick grew up in Decatur, Georgia, and attended Marist School in Atlanta, where he excelled in sports, particularly football and basketball.
After high school, Hardwick attended the University of Georgia on a football scholarship, but eventually transferred to the University of San Diego to pursue a degree in theater. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1996, and then moved to New York City to begin his acting career.
Hardwick made his acting debut in 2001 with a guest role on the TV series “On Our Own”. He went on to appear in several other TV shows, including “Saved”, “CSI: Miami”, and “The A-Team”, before landing his breakthrough role as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the Starz crime drama series “Power” in 2014. The series ran for six seasons and brought Hardwick critical acclaim, as well as several award nominations.
