He is a talented musician and has released several albums in both Dutch and English. In 2005, he was the lead singer of the Dutch band, Fontane.
Huisman made his American television debut in the HBO series, Treme (2010-2013), where he played the role of Sonny.
He gained international recognition for his role as Daario Naharis in the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones (2014-2016).
