Crichton received his undergraduate degree in biological anthropology from Harvard College in 1964, and then attended Harvard Medical School, where he graduated with an MD degree in 1969. While in medical school, he began writing novels under various pseudonyms to earn extra money.

After graduating from medical school, Crichton pursued a career as a writer and quickly became successful with his first novel, “The Andromeda Strain” (1969), a science-fiction thriller about a deadly virus from outer space. He continued to write successful novels, including “The Terminal Man” (1972), “The Great Train Robbery” (1975), “Congo” (1980), and “Jurassic Park” (1990), which was later adapted into a blockbuster film.

In addition to his writing career, Crichton also worked in the film industry. He wrote and directed several films, including “Westworld” (1973), “Coma” (1978), and “Runaway” (1984). He also created and produced the medical drama TV series “ER” (1994-2009), which became one of the most successful television shows of all time.

Throughout his career, Crichton received numerous awards and honors for his work, including an Emmy Award, a Peabody Award, and a posthumous induction into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. He sold over 200 million copies of his books worldwide, and his work has been translated into 40 languages.
