Gandolfini’s career began in the late 1980s, with small roles in films such as “True Romance” and “Terminal Velocity”. He also appeared in several television shows, including “Law & Order” and “Murder, She Wrote”. In 1992, Gandolfini landed a breakthrough role in the film “True Romance”, where he played a menacing hitman named Virgil.
In 1999, Gandolfini was cast in the lead role of Tony Soprano in the HBO series “The Sopranos”, which would become his most iconic role. The show premiered in 1999 and ran for six seasons, with Gandolfini receiving widespread critical acclaim for his portrayal of the complex and troubled mob boss.
