Biography of Henry Rollins:

He is best known for his work as the lead singer of the punk rock band Black Flag from 1981 to 1986, and later as the frontman for his own band, the Rollins Band.

Rollins grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. and attended American University for one semester before dropping out to work various jobs, including working at an ice cream store and as a truck driver. In 1980, he joined the punk rock band State of Alert (S.O.A.), which led to his auditioning for Black Flag in 1981.

During his time with Black Flag, Rollins became known for his intense stage presence and passionate, politically charged lyrics. After leaving the band in 1986, he formed the Rollins Band and released several albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, earning critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base.

In addition to his music career, Rollins has also pursued acting, appearing in films such as “Heat” and “The Chase,” as well as television shows such as “Sons of Anarchy” and “The Henry Rollins Show.” He has also written numerous books, including his memoir “Get in the Van,” which chronicles his time with Black Flag, and “Black Coffee Blues,” a collection of his poetry and spoken word performances.

Rollins is also known for his outspoken political and social views, and has been involved in various humanitarian causes throughout his career, including working with the USO to entertain troops overseas and supporting various charities focused on human rights and social justice.

Throughout his career, Rollins has been recognized for his contributions to music and activism, receiving awards such as the Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album in 1995 and 2004, and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of Black Flag.
