Corgan’s career journey can be traced back to the 1980s when he began playing in various local bands in Chicago.
In 1987, Corgan formed The Smashing Pumpkins with James Iha and D’arcy Wretzky. The band gained popularity in the 1990s with the release of their albums “Gish” (1991) and “Siamese Dream” (1993), both of which received critical acclaim. Corgan’s distinctive voice and songwriting style, which blended elements of heavy metal, alternative rock, and psychedelic music, helped set the band apart from their contemporaries.
In 1995, The Smashing Pumpkins released “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness,” a double album that became a commercial and critical success, earning the band seven Grammy Award nominations. The album’s lead single, “Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” won a Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
